Episode 93: The Long Wait - Learning to Trust God’s Timing Through Faith and Patience
Wednesday Dec 17, 2025
Wednesday Dec 17, 2025
Waiting is one of the hardest parts of the faith journey — especially for men. In Episode 93, The Long Wait, we reflect on James 5:8 and the story of John the Baptist in prison, a man who fully believed Jesus was the Messiah yet still found himself waiting in darkness. We talk honestly about seasons where God feels quiet, answers don’t come, and faith is tested. This episode is about learning to establish our hearts, trust God’s timing, and stay faithful even when we don’t see the outcome.

We wanted to wrap up the season with a fun, fast-paced episode, so we ran through a bunch of rapid fire questions, shared our favorite moments from deer and waterfowl season, talked through the gear that actually made a difference for us, and even messed around with the whole “if your season was a movie” idea.
We also looked ahead at what we’re excited about going into 2025 — hunting, family, content, all of it.
To close things out, we spent some time talking about Christmas and what it means to be the light in the dark. This time of year can feel heavy for a lot of people, but there are still small moments, little miracles, and reminders that God shows up in ways we don’t always expect.

Episode 90: Pheasant Hunting and Thanksgiving Weekend
Wednesday Nov 26, 2025
Wednesday Nov 26, 2025
In this special Thanksgiving weekend episode, we slow things down and talk about everything that makes this time of year feel right — pheasant hunting, dog work, family, and gratitude.
We break down how the holiday weekend went, swap stories from the field, and dive into what it takes to train a good bird dog for late-season pheasants — from obedience to quartering to keeping a dog’s nose sharp when the birds get cagey. Whether you’re chasing roosters in the cattails or just love watching a dog work, this one hits home.
Most importantly, we take a moment to acknowledge something we don’t say enough:
We are genuinely thankful for every one of you who tunes in, comments, shares, and supports this channel.
Your encouragement keeps this thing going, and we don’t take a single second of it for granted.
Kick back, enjoy the stories, and celebrate the things that matter — good dogs, good hunts, and the people who walk alongside us.

Evan breaks down one of the most underrated windows of the entire whitetail season — Thanksgiving week. With the rut winding down and deer shifting hard toward food and recovery, this late-November stretch can be the perfect time to tag a mature buck across the Midwest.
This Thanksgiving breakdown focuses on late-season deer behavior, how weather patterns influence movement, where to concentrate your efforts on both private and public ground, and the key timing windows that give you the best shot at filling a tag during the holiday week.
If you want a clear, simple late-November game plan — this is it. This is how to tag a buck during Thanksgiving week.
As always, Happy Thanksgiving to every one of you who tunes in and supports the show. I’m truly thankful for all of you. Safe travels, God bless, and good luck out in the deer woods this week.

Wednesday Nov 19, 2025
Wednesday Nov 19, 2025
In this week’s episode, Luke and Evan slow down for a much-needed fall catch-up — talking Minnesota’s upcoming deer season, how the duck hunting grind has been going so far, and the big news everyone’s been waiting for… Luke’s new Labrador puppy, Boone.
This one's a laid-back BS session — the kind where two buddies talk hunting, life, and everything in between as the chaos of fall hits full swing. From early rut expectations to river duck frustrations to the excitement (and reality) of bringing home a new pup, it’s the kind of raw, honest conversation every outdoorsman can relate to.
If you’re chasing deer, ducks, or just trying to keep your sanity during the busiest time of the year, this episode hits home.
🎙️ Topics We Get Into:
Early predictions for the MN deer season
Duck hunting highs & lows so far
Boone’s arrival and training plans
Life updates, hunting chaos, and laughing through the madness

Monday Nov 17, 2025
It’s the week of November 17th, and we’re breaking down the first week of Minnesota gun season on the Bungum farmstead. This opener brought one of the coolest full-circle moments we’ve had in a long time.
Our guest this week is my cousin, Dylan Bungum. After years away at the Air Force Academy and serving our country, he finally had the chance to spend real time back in the stand. And the timing couldn’t have been better. Dylan shares the full story of wrapping his tag around “Babe,” the number-one target buck in our section and a true southeast Minnesota giant.
We also get into everything that makes deer camp special—campfires, guitars, late nights, good food, and having family and friends all together again. The kind of week where stories grow, the tradition feels stronger, and the moments mean more every year.
This episode is all about a well-deserved buck, a long-awaited return to the woods, and a deer camp we won’t forget.

Episode 88: Deer Camp Stories: Bucks, Brotherhood & the Minnesota Gun Opener
Wednesday Nov 12, 2025
Wednesday Nov 12, 2025
In this week’s episode, Evan is joined by his brother Erik Bungum and lifelong hunting buddy Jake Siemers to relive the highs, lows, and full-circle moments from this year’s Minnesota gun opener.
From long sits and close calls to campfire laughs and hard-earned lessons, the crew breaks down what made this season special — including Jake’s big buck on the family farm and the story of Dylan’s giant “Babe,” a true local legend finally hitting the dirt.
They dive into habitat management, food plot strategy, and how tradition, faith, and family keep them grounded in and out of the woods.
Congrats to Jake on his buck and to Dylan for taking down a once-in-a-lifetime deer. We’ll hear Dylan’s full story next week on Chasin’ the Rut.
Whether you’re fresh off your own opener or grinding it out for late season, this one captures everything we love about deer season — the stories, the camaraderie, and the pull back to deer camp every November.

Evan Bungum
Growing up in SE Minnesota, my love for hunting and fishing was nurtured by my dad. From turkeys to whitetails, those early days shaped my passion for the outdoors. As years passed, my focus shifted from hunting to storytelling and capturing my adventures. Through outdoor media, I embarked on unforgettable journeys, driven by a desire to inspire others to appreciate God's creation.
Fred Bear's wisdom resonates deeply within me, guiding my steps as I traverse the wilderness with reverence for its inhabitants. My mission now is clear: to share the beauty of nature and the light of faith with the world. With each story I share, I hope to ignite a spark in others, encouraging them to find joy in both the wonders of creation and the embrace of faith.
Supported by a loving wife and a community of kindred spirits, I feel blessed to live a life so deeply intertwined with the great outdoors. Each day brings new adventures, new stories to tell, and I eagerly await the next chapter in this journey of faith and exploration.

Luke Timmons
Hailing from southeastern Minnesota, my roots run deep, grounded in the rich soil of a small-town upbringing. Sundays were spent in the pews of our local church, surrounded by the warmth of family and the embrace of faith, before venturing into the woods in pursuit of whitetail deer. Over time, my love for the outdoors expanded to encompass a diverse array of hunting and fishing pursuits. Yet, amidst the ebb and flow of life's adventures, it is my Christian faith that serves as my compass, shaping me into a dedicated father, a devoted husband, a respectful son, and a loyal friend. It's the principles instilled by my faith that guide my actions and relationships, illuminating the path towards growth, love, and service to others. Through this podcast, it is my goal to spread the word of God and ignite a fervent passion for fellow believers to embrace their Christian faith through the beauty and serenity of the outdoors.
